      •   Table 1 presents the basic results from our simulations. There are a number of conclusions to be drawn. First, the availability of disaggregated data on poverty can help to improve on a uniform lump-sum transfer across the entire population. Targeting transfers to poor localities, in accordance with the optimization scheme outlined above, yields lower values of the national FGT2 than when the budget is transferred as a uniform lump-sum transfer to the entire population.
