The papers published in this volume date back to a conference entitled “Middle Eastern Literatures of the 18th Century. A Departure towards Modernity?” organized by the Oriental Institute of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, which took place in March 2010 in the Leucorea in Wittenberg.
