Middle East and North Africa Special Area Collection – Digital
The University and State Library Saxony-Anhalt in Halle (ULB Halle) has digitized within the framework of two projects funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) over 3050 volumes of Titles belonging to the Middle East and North Africa Special Area Collection (Sondersammelgebiet 6.23), which has been replaced in 2016 by the DFG supported Specialised Information Service for Middle East, North African and Islamic Studies.
The selected titles for digitization are free of copyright restrictions. They belong to the old holdings of the Library of the German Oriental Society (Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft). Also a part of the selected titles are more recent publications that are digitized with special permissions of the publishers.
The University and State Library Saxony-Anhalt (ULB Halle) maintains the digitization project as a module of its Specialised Information Service for Middle East, North African and Islamic Studies and the Middle East Virtual Library MENALIB and the fulltext repository MENAdoc. Technical concept and support for the project are provided by semantics GmbH in collaboration with Walter Nagel GmbH & Co KG and Mikro Univers GmbH.
